The NGO Justicia, Encuentro y Perdón denounced on Friday that Venezuelan activist Rocío San Miguel, detained by Nicolás Maduro’s regime since February 2024, has not received specialized medical care for a shoulder fracture she sustained more than seven months ago, which constitutes a “serious violation of her human rights,” according to the NGO’s post on social media platform X.
“Despite the severity of this injury, she has not received specialized medical care, which puts her physical and emotional health at risk and may result in irreversible consequences,” the organization warned.
The NGO added that this situation violates San Miguel’s fundamental rights, especially her “right to health, personal integrity, and dignified detention conditions,” in accordance with international standards.
