Mother: “He needs you.” An event in Milan on Saturday
One year without Alberto Trentini, the 46-year-old aid worker from Veneto who is being held in a prison in Caracas.
Three hundred sixty-five days with virtually no contact with Italy—except for rare exceptions—and without support in Venezuela.
And above all, without charges: the trial against him has never been formalized, and the accusation refers only to a vague “conspiracy.” Tomorrow, on the anniversary of his arrest on 15 November 2024, there will be an event in Milan: a press conference scheduled at noon in the press room of the City of Milan, as part of a renewed mobilization to demand Alberto’s release.
The meeting was preceded today by a new appeal from Alberto’s mother, Armanda Colusso Trentini. “A year has passed since Alberto was arrested in Venezuela, a year of unbearable waiting for him and for us,” wrote Armanda on the front page of la Repubblica. “Tomorrow we will gather in Milan to talk about him once again. And I ask all of you never to grow tired of doing so, because only strong media pressure can convince those in power to act and finally bring him home. Alberto has dedicated his life to others, and now he is the one who needs you: write, speak about him, insist, so that those who must decide will finally do so without hesitation.”
