The three imprisoned Swedish citizens Dawit Isaak, Gui Minhai, and Ahmadreza Djalali are being honored with a “Justice Wall” outside 10 Downing Street in London.
Today, on Human Rights Day, the British human rights organization Human Rights Solidarity (HRS) is drawing attention to, among others, the three imprisoned Swedes with a temporary installation in Whitehall, opposite 10 Downing Street in London. The installation consists of a “Justice Wall” — a ten-meter-long canvas whose upper section is being painted by independent artists. Passers-by are invited to write their own messages on the lower section of the wall.
“Human Rights Day is a reminder that dignity and freedom are universal, yet millions continue to suffer in silence,” says HRS director Burak Batuhan Karakus in a statement.
The installation is carried out in cooperation with the Edelstam Foundation, The Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights, Global Liberty Alliance, Eritrea Focus, and Hostage Aid Worldwide, who in a joint statement said:
“We stand behind HRS’s important initiative. Cases such as Ahmadreza Djalali, Dawit Isaak, and Gui Minhai highlight the urgent need to combat hostage diplomacy, enforced disappearances, and wrongful detentions across the world — we must act now to bring them home.”
