Hostage Aid Worldwide is pleased to announce the addition of Ernest T. Lopez III to its Honorary Board. Lopez brings a distinguished track record of dedication, leadership and strategic vision to the organization.
Ernest’s dedication to assisting hostages and unlawful detainees stems from his personal experience advocating for the release of his military school roommate, former hostage Nizar Zakka, who was held in Iran in 2015. Throughout this arduous journey, Ernest demonstrated unwavering commitment, leveraging every available resource and connection to campaign tirelessly for Nizar’s freedom.
His efforts not only exemplify his profound compassion and tenacity but also highlight his ability to effectively mobilize support and drive impactful advocacy efforts. Joining the board, Ernest brings this passion and determination to our mission, ensuring that his experience and insights will profoundly impact our efforts to support hostages worldwide.
A proud alumnus of Riverside Military Academy, Ernest graduated in 1984. He has maintained strong ties with his alma mater, serving on the Board of Trustees and being honored as the Distinguished Alumni of the Year in 2021. His contributions to the academy were further recognized with a Distinguished Service Award.
In 1997, Ernest founded Atlanta Paving and Concrete Construction Inc., where he has served as President. Under his guidance, the company has become a cornerstone in the industry, recognized for its innovative approaches and commitment to quality. Lopez’s influence extends beyond his own company. He is a board member of the Georgia Pavement Association and has also served as the President of Dykes Paving and Construction Company, further solidifying his reputation as a leader in the field.

Hostage Aid Worldwide, a non-profit founded in September 2020 by former hostages, is dedicated to advocating for the safe return of individuals wrongfully detained or held hostage globally.
