Hope springs for family of Brit mum and dad locked up in Iran on alleged espionage as couple captured by Taliban return home
THE FAMILY of a Brit mum and dad detained in Iran hope the government will fight harder for their release after another couple were finally freed by the Taliban.
Lindsay and Craig Foreman were arrested and charged with spying against Tehran while on a dream motorbike tour around the world in January.
The married couple, both aged 52, have been kept in separate hellhole prisons for nine months awaiting trial for espionage charges which they deny.
Their detention echoes the case of Peter and Barbie Reynolds, who were finally reunited with family this week after being held in Afghanistan since February.
Lindsay and Craig’s son Joe Bennett hopes their safe return will force UK authorities to increase efforts to get his mum and dad home to East Sussex.
He said: “We are extremely relieved to hear that the British couple Peter and Barbie Reynolds detained for nearly eight months by the Taliban in Afghanistan have now been released.
“They and their family have been through such a terrible time and our thoughts and support go out to them as they return home
“ No-one should be held hostage abroad, not them and not our loved ones, Lindsay and Craig Foreman.
“Lindsay and Craig are still held in terrible conditions in jails in Iran and we remain very concerned for their health and wellbeing.
“We hope this will now put the spotlight on our UK government to do more to ensure the release of Lindsay and Craig.”
