Olivier Dubois (Mali), Mortaza Behboudi (Afghanistan), Pierre Legrand (Niger), and Benjamin Brière (Iran) will speak about their experiences as former hostages during a dedicated conference taking place in Saint-Brieuc (Côtes-d’Armor) on Friday, April 25, 2025. Ingrid Betancourt will join a panel discussion via video link.
Five former hostages will gather in Saint-Brieuc (Côtes-d’Armor) for a conference focused on hostage rights, held at the faculty of law on Friday, April 25, 2025. The event is organized by the Saint-Brieuc branch of the Rennes Law University, the Saint-Brieuc Bar Association, and the NGO SOS Otages.
Objective: “To assess the current state of hostage rights. Judges, university professors, human rights lawyers, and members of parliament will discuss this topic—which is rarely studied by researchers—and propose ways to improve the legal framework for victims of hostage-taking, regardless of the nature of the abduction (criminal, terrorist, political).”
