Maria Malmer Stenergard will meet China’s foreign minister during her ongoing trip in Asia.
She wants to see increased cooperation, but she also intends to raise the case of the imprisoned Swede Gui Minhai and China’s relationship with Russia.
“The purpose of my visit is to establish a frank and direct dialogue with my Chinese counterpart Wang Yi,” she says.
Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) is extending her trip in Asia with a visit to China. She is currently in Japan together with Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, and later this week she will travel to South Korea.
The visit to China is scheduled for October 16–17.
“China is the world’s second-largest economy and an emerging innovation nation. We want to cooperate where it is possible and aligns with our interests and values, for example regarding trade and the green transition,” said the foreign minister during a visit to Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, a green area dedicated to the victims of the 1945 atomic bomb.
“The purpose of my visit is to establish a frank and direct dialogue with my Chinese foreign minister colleague Wang Yi,” the foreign minister said.
