Vasundhara Oswal, the 26-year-old daughter of Swiss industrialist Pankaj Oswal, has been held in a Ugandan prison since October 1 without trial, her family claims. The Oswal family has released an audio recording of Vasundhara’s last phone call during her detention, highlighting her dire situation. She has spent nearly 3 weeks behind bars, facing murder allegations, even though the individual she was accused of kidnapping and murdering has been found alive in Tanzania under state custody, her family said.
In the audio conversation released by her family, Vasundhara could he heard crying saying: “They are taking my phone. They are taking my phone.”
Vasundhara Oswal’s sister has shared troubling details about her sister’s wrongful detention in Uganda. An audio recording, available in the family’s public appeal, captures Vasundhara speaking after 90 hours in custody, revealing that she was denied a phone call and held illegally despite possessing an unconditional release order.
The person she was accused of harming has been found alive and in the custody of Tanzanian authorities, her sister said. When arrested, the man had his passport in hand, confirming that he traveled voluntarily, with no evidence of abduction or mistreatment by Vasundhara or her family, she said. Despite these facts, she said, Ugandan officials continue to ignore the truth, keeping Vasundhara behind bars without justification.
