Iranian-American Journalist Says He Was Jailed for Refusing Intelligence Cooperation

An Iranian-American journalist has said from Tehran’s Evin Prison that he was detained for refusing to cooperate with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intelligence organization.

Reza Valizadeh said in a message that the IRGC’s intelligence unit initially offered him money and asked him to lure Iranian journalists living abroad into returning to Iran under the guise of contractual work.

After he rejected that proposal, Valizadeh said he received another offer to launch a media outlet.

According to Valizadeh, IRGC intelligence also requested detailed information about the administrative structure of Radio Free Europe/Radio Farda, including employee names, job titles, and organizational hierarchy.
