Barry Featherman

Barry Featherman served as the Executive Director for Government Affairs at Gilead Sciences where he was responsible for regional and institutional political activity within the Middle East, Russia, Turkey,  Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia, which facilitates the growth of over $2.2 billion in revenue. He managed a team of U.S. and international-based government affairs professionals working to advance the company’s strategic issues, partnering with internal and external stakeholders.

Prior to joining Gilead, Featherman was a principal at the Global Solutions Division of the Podesta Group, International Affairs Director at Duane Morris Government Strategies, Executive Director of the Global Center for Development and Democracy a group of 21 former Heads of State and Heads of Government which worked to strengthen democratic institutions and President and CEO of the Inter-American Economic Council. He served as the head of the transition team for the Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States, Ambassador Albert Ramdin, who was recently elected to serve as Secretary General of the regional political body.

Mr. Featherman served as  a Member of the Chairman’s Business Advisory Board of the US-ASEAN Business Council and a Member of the International Affairs Steering Committee at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO). He served on Gilead’s IP/Trade Policy Working Group, Gilead’s Government Affairs and Policy Leadership Team and on Gilead’s Access Operations and Emerging Markets (AOEM) Leadership Team.  He served as a US Government Appointee on the National Advisory Committee of the US EPA.   He received the Gravitas Capital Advisors Award for contributions to innovative Inter-American policy.

Mr. Featherman is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate (BA) of Temple University and received his Juris Doctorate (JD) from the American University. He holds a master’s degree (LL.M.) in Inter-American Law from the University of Miami.  He received a diploma in leadership from the International Leadership Academy in Amman which was bestowed by HM the Queen of Jordan.
