Mum of Italian Held in Venezuela Complains of Govt’s Silence

The mother of Alberto Trentini, an Italian aid worker who has been held in Venezuela on ‘conspiracy’ charges since November 15, on Tuesday complained of Premier Giorgia Meloni’s alleged silence with respect to the case.

“Today it’s exactly eight months that my son Alberto has been in prison but everything is silent and even our Prime Minister is silent,” said Armanda Trentini outside a Rome court before a hearing of the Rome trial in absentia of four Egyptian security officials accused of torturing to death Italian student Giulio Regeni in January-February 2016.
