Argentina – TN, Feb. 22, 2026

He sent word to his family that if his demands are not met, he will continue the measure. He is being held in El Rodeo 1, a maximum-security prison in Caracas.

The Catamarca-born gendarme Nahuel Gallo informed his family that he will remain on hunger strike until he receives consular assistance and a visit from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

“Nahuel sent us a message saying that he demands consular assistance and a visit from the International Committee of the Red Cross. Otherwise, he will not end the hunger strike,” his partner, María Alexandra Gómez, told TN.

According to her, the contact occurred through “the relatives who went to visit the political prisoners today.” Gallo asked the detainees to pass the message on to their families.

When asked about his condition, Gómez said: “We don’t know.”

Gallo has been detained since December 8, 2024.

Nahuel Gallo joined the hunger strike of more than 200 detainees.

Gallo joined the hunger strike initiated by “more than 200 people” held at El Rodeo 1 prison, on the outskirts of Caracas, Gómez said earlier in a post on X.

“Today I received information that Nahuel Agustín Gallo and more than 200 people held in El Rodeo 1 have begun a hunger strike.”
