The gendarme met with the siblings of the lawyer who is being held at Yare II and is the last Argentine detained by the Chavista regime.
Amid the attention generated by the release of Nahuel Gallo after spending 448 days imprisoned in an illegal detention center, the gendarme met with the family of Germán Giuliani, the last Argentine who remains detained by the Chavista regime.
The meeting took place on Tuesday night during a dinner attended by Giuliani’s wife, Virginia Rivero, and one of his sisters. “I asked him to keep raising his voice for everyone who was left there, for his fellow detainees from Rodeo I and for my brother, Germán Giuliani. That he include him in his requests. True solidarity begins at home, they say. I appeal to solidarity,” wrote another of the Argentine lawyer’s sisters in a post.
“I am grateful to have Nahuel among us. I admire his strength. Alexandra knows what this is about and understands the process; her help is essential. I must continue asking for the release of Germán Giuliani! Freedom for everyone now!” the post concluded.
This marks another appeal from Giuliani’s family, as he has spent more than nine months deprived of his liberty at the Yare II Penitentiary Center. Although his case has received little international attention, it has begun to mobilize diplomatic and social demands from Argentina. The family says he has been “treated like a criminal,” despite the absence of evidence or any formal charges to justify his detention.
Giuliani’s detention has been marked by a lack of transparency and the absence of responses from Venezuelan authorities. Since May 2025, the Argentine lawyer has remained isolated in the Yare II Judicial Internment Center without being formally informed of any charges or being allowed to exercise his defense. According to testimony from his relatives, the treatment he has received has included episodes of torture, prolonged isolation, and degrading conditions, constituting serious human rights violations.
