Officers from Poland’s elite ‘Shadow Hunters’ police squad have rescued a Syrian man who had been kidnapped in Germany and forcibly taken hostage in Warsaw.
The man was abducted on July 6, with the kidnappers demanding several hundred thousand euros in ransom from his family.
According to the Polish Central Investigation Bureau of Police (CBŚP), the specialist unit was alerted to the crime by German police, who believed the Syrian was being held in Poland.
The team sprang into action and soon established that the culprits and their hostage were holed up in Warsaw’s Włochy district.
Tactical units raided the business premises where the men were hiding and seized two suspects—one from Palestine and the other from Lebanon. They also provided first aid to the Syrian hostage, who did not require hospital treatment.
