President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has directed the relevant authorities to study the petition submitted by the National Council for Human Rights regarding the issuance of a presidential pardon for a number of convicts.
The National Council for Human Rights had petitioned President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in line with the constitutional powers vested in the president, to consider issuing a presidential pardon for a group of convicts. This request came in response to appeals received by the Council from their families, asking that they be given a new chance in life, return to their families, and live within their community under normal circumstances.
