Swedish-Iranian Ahmadreza Djalali, who has been sentenced to death, is considered at high risk of imminent execution.
“The work to free Ahmadreza Djalali continues at full speed,” said Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (Moderate Party) in a written statement to TT.
Stenergard spoke with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister on Tuesday. Since then, Djalali’s case has been discussed in “high-level contacts” during this week’s NATO summit in The Hague, the foreign minister added, without elaborating further.
She also declined to comment on what concrete actions the government is taking to prevent an execution.
“The measures and contacts deemed best for the case at this time will continue. We do not go into details about the government’s work on Ahmadreza Djalali’s case, as doing so may worsen his situation.”
