On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the mother, wife, and sisters of the Argentine lawyer called for international help. The man has been detained for 290 days by the Chávez regime.
The family of Argentine lawyer Germán Darío Giuliani, who has been detained in Venezuela since May 2025, released an emotional video this Sunday in which they asked the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Caracas, Laura Dogu, to intervene to secure his release.
The message was published to mark International Women’s Day and features the lawyer’s mother, wife, and sisters, who appealed for help regarding what they consider an arbitrary detention that has now lasted 290 days.
The video, recorded in Buenos Aires, shows the women of the Giuliani family making a direct appeal to the American diplomat to use her influence and assist with efforts to allow the lawyer to return to Argentina.
The first to speak was his mother, Adriana Palavecino, who expressed the pain the family has endured since the arrest. “My son has been unjustly kidnapped for 290 days. Ambassador Laura Dogu, I ask you to hear our pain. Please help us bring him back home,” she said in the message.
Next, Virginia Rivero, the lawyer’s wife, spoke about the daily anguish the family is experiencing. “My husband is innocent. As a woman, I beg you to intervene. My family needs Germán to come back,” she said.
The lawyer’s sisters also appeared in the video and added their plea for help on the symbolic date of March 8.
Karina Giuliani said the situation deeply affects the entire family. “This March 8, I cannot celebrate. Mrs. Dogu, we ask you to help us,” she said.
Similarly, Vanesa Giuliani emphasized that Germán “is a good man, accused of crimes he did not commit,” while Lorena Giuliani recalled the long time that has passed since his arrest. “290 days of anguish have gone by,” she said, while asking for the diplomat’s mediation.
For her part, Luciana Giuliani described the emotional impact of the lawyer’s absence on the family’s daily life: “Every day without him is a sadness for all of us.” Finally, the youngest sister, Melisa Giuliani, appealed to empathy on Women’s Day. “I speak to you woman to woman. Please help my brother return home,” she said.
