Virginia Rivero, wife of Argentine lawyer Germán Giuliani, released a public video this Friday announcing the death of her father-in-law, Carlos Giuliani, while her husband remains arbitrarily detained in Venezuela for more than 11 months.
In the video, Rivero stated that Germán “was not allowed to return home to say goodbye to his father while he was still alive,” despite having a release order issued in February and precautionary measures granted by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), which the regime of Delcy Rodríguez has systematically ignored in violation of his fundamental rights.
