A new statement from the families of Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris, dated October 23, calls for swift action to secure their release. According to their relatives, the survival of the two French hostages held in Iran is “a matter of days.”
The families of Cécile Kohler (a teacher originally from Alsace) and her partner, Jacques Paris, have issued a renewed plea demanding their freedom. In a statement released on the evening of Wednesday, October 23, the Support Committee “Liberty for Cécile” stressed “the absolute necessity of rapid and determined action (…) in the coming days.”
According to their relatives, the two French hostages in Iran are in a state of “extreme distress.” On October 14 — the date of their last contact with family — Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris stated that their “survival is now a matter of days.”
An official conviction by Iran
On Tuesday, October 14, Tehran found the two French nationals guilty of espionage on behalf of France and Israel, as well as collusion against national security. Kohler was sentenced to 20 years in prison, and Paris to 17 years.
