Israeli air forces bombed Iran’s Evin prison in Tehran on Monday, June 23, where the two French hostages were being held.
“They are being subjected to inhuman and degrading treatment.” These were the words of Anne-Laure, the daughter of Jacques Paris — who has been detained in Iran with his partner Cécile Kohler for three years — during a press conference held Friday, June 27.
On Monday, Evin prison in Tehran — where the two French nationals were imprisoned — was bombed by Israel as part of the ongoing conflict between the two countries. Since then, their families have received no updates.
“I am speaking out because I fear for my father’s life. He just turned 72. For over three years now, he and Cécile have been locked up in a cage. During his last call on May 28, my father told me: ‘I’m exhausted,’” recounted Anne-Laure Paris.
“For more than 1,140 days, they’ve been sleeping on the floor in 9-square-meter cells, with the lights on 24/7 and no windows,” she described.
“They are only allowed out for 30 minutes, three times a week. They have nothing to read or write with. This is torture under international law. Who can survive over three years of torture?” she asked, speaking publicly for the first time.
