NGO worker detained in Venezuela since November
Alberto Trentini, a young NGO worker from Venezia who has been detained in Venezuela since November, is in good health according to “conclusive evidence”, qualified sources told ANSA on Thursday.
Trentini travelled to Venezuela on October 17 for a mission with the NGO Humanity and Inclusion.
On November 15, while he was travelling from Caracas to Guasladito, he was arrested at a checkpoint.
The NGO worker’s family have mobilized to demand his release.
A note issued last month by the family and attorney Alessandra Ballerini in particular asked the cabinet to “open a constructive dialogue with Venezuelan authorities to bring Alberto back home and guarantee his safety”.
“The few and informal reports we have received appear to indicate that, a few days after his arrest, Alberto was transferred to Caracas”, where he is currently detained, allegedly without having been charged, the family said.
They also said the young NGO worker has a health condition.
