Venezuela: Release of Camilo Castro

It is with great relief that the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs announces the release of our compatriot Camilo Castro, who had been detained in Venezuela for more than four months. He is now back in France.

This release is the result of coordinated efforts across all State services, the personal involvement of the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot, as well as the commitment of Mr. Castro’s family and supporters.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs welcomes this gesture by the Venezuelan authorities and will remain mobilized until Mr. Castro is received in Paris in the presence of his loved ones.

The commitment of the Ministry’s teams remains steadfast in providing support to our compatriots throughout the world.
